Tess D

Hammock & Lyra Instructor

Tess began competitive gymnastics as a child. As an adult, she transitioned to ballet, jazz, and contemporary dance. She was lucky enough to join Onstage Dance Company in Boston during grad school, and then Westlake Dance Center in Seattle. Both studios allowed her to train and perform at the same time, which she loves!

During the pandemic, her best friend gifted her some pole classes. While pole didn’t feel like quite the right fit, her first hammock classes very much did! Since then, Tess has trained extensively in hammock, lyra, and now silks, with the occasional dabble in pole and floorwork.

Tess is thrilled and grateful to have found her way into the Mora family. After years of feeling like her body doesn’t fit ballet, jazz, contemporary, or gymnastics, aerial and Mora have helped her find a style of dance that is all about what fits her body just as it is! She hopes to bring that sense of belonging, self-discovery, and artistic satisfaction to her students!

When she isn’t dancing, Tess is a fourth grade teacher who travels, gardens, and is an avid-reader.
